Vision

The African Heart Project Inc (AHP) was created with a spirit of a volunteer organization to help indigenous people of Africa develop socio-environmentally conscious programs geared toward improving access to healthcare, education, and social activities locally.


Mission and Vocation

As a not-for-profit organization, our first and foremost mission is to work with Local NGOs in Senegal, Mauritania and the entire region in cooperation with our natural partner the Franco-African Heart Association for West Africa (AFCAO) in their mission to perform cardiovascular surgeries in Africa. 

  • Support AFCAO and similar NGOs to carry out humanitarian missions in Africa to perform cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, to deploy resources to support local populations in the areas of education, clean water and sustainable energy usage.
  • Contribute to the utilitarian programs for the eradication of chronic diseases including rheumatic fever, the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, diagnosis and management of heart related diseases, malaria, bilharzia
  • Collaborate in a spirit of partnership with all national or international organizations, associations, foundations, and NGOs pursuing goals similar to our association in order to mobilize the human, material, financial and technical resources necessary for the realization of our programs Participate in the implementation in Africa, an effective technical platform in the thoracic and cardiovascular field as well as performing surgical services meeting international standards.

AHP will cooperate with local governments to support the countries’ strategies to improve healthcare, enhance education and develop sustainable energy in the traditionally remote and limited accessibility locations in the region. AHP will be working with volunteers and donors to give time, money or resources to support our mission. Volunteers will have the opportunity to travel and transfer their know-how and expertise to help sustain the development of our programs locally.


Fields of action

AHP will plan and develop its activities to enable access to basic healthcare, education and for adults, children, and newborns locally.

  • Establish dispensaries and pharmacies in remote and hardly accessible villages
  • Initiate and support community-based preventive programs to solve health and hygiene problems
  • Contribute to local Health’s utilitarian projects and programs for the eradication of rheumatic diseases
  • Provide tools and educational support to screen and prevent cardiovascular diseases
  • Provide supporting programs to help with the rehabilitation of patients
  • AHP will partner with local healthcare facilities and programs to help finance management of medico-surgical procedures for the indigenous population
  • Promote research in the medical fields and alternative energy generation area
  • Help design curriculums and materials to support and enhance education
  • Establish sustainable development programs through social assistance actions such as:
    • Building schools,
    • Road construction to improve accessibility and mobility between villages,
    • Drilling wells to supply clean water,
    • Generate energy predominantly from renewable sources like solar and wind,
    • Mobilizing local actions to reverse forest depletion and help minimize the use of firewood for cooking meals.

AHP will plan and develop its activities to enable access to basic healthcare, education and for adults, children, and newborns locally.  

AHP will also collaborate in a spirit of partnership with national, international and non-governmental organizations pursuing goals similar to those of AHP to mobilize human, material, financial and technical resources necessary for the realization of the programs and objectives of the organization.
